zine concept - maria huiza

  1. Maria, this sounds great! What will the dramatic ARC of the story be? The boy enters this world and.....it would be interesting to (as you say, explore the theory) AND tie it into life. Where do we PUSH and PULL in life? First loves? What we expect and what we get? I asked a friend where push and pull exist in life and he said: work, love and sex. Now a kid may not have any of these worlds as their main focus, but they MAY think about: what their "job" is in life, what they are PASSIONATE about and sex could relate to loving and caring for some(one)thing? These are all good lessons for children to learn.
HOW TO RELATE TO COLOR? Try some things out? When is color HARMONIOUS, when is it not? When is color WORKING/TRYING/FIGHTING? When is it supportive?
PUSH your questions...try to push us to respond so that we FEEL what you want us to feel!!
    Good work!

  2. Great idea. Write the story out quickly so you know exactly what the beginning, middle and end will be. Then you can begin to associate colors and images. It might be interesting to have the reader move through the painting in a very technical way at first, which eventually turns into a symbolic/emotional discovery. For example, the boy may ask "what is that a picture of?" or "how did the artist get the blue to look so bright?". Then as he looks closer he sees the layers of colored paint. As he sees the layers many images come to mind...he connects the colors to his life, or past.....this is just one idea to play around with others as well.
